hey guys :) thank you so so much for today's performance :) you guys have put in so much effort and done so much to make today a success! we really rocked the house this afternoon, and I hope you guys loved every minute of it ;) We've proved time and again that dance, for us, isn't simply a hobby or just a CCA- for us, dance is everything and anything, for us, it's a way of life :)

We can take this as a stepping stone in our MAD lives for we've done a BIG event. On Orchard Road. :) We've all improved so much from the times when we were struggling with the MAD audition choreo and freaking out over Dance Night. Of course, there's always room for improvement and we'll always be looking to how to dance better, how to do other styles and learn other techniques. :) We'll all improve together and we'll be as good as the seniors in no time :)

hello dancers!
just to have a brief update.

Ares night:
A small group of ares dancers are performing for ares night which is held on 03 aug, fri. they are: evelyn, huitian, jiayuan, rachel, casey, terrance, yuhan and zhuhao. they will be putting up last year's ares fac dance. As most pp are rather busy with tapestry and stuff and the stage in LT3 is rather small, we have decided to keep this group to a minimum. i know there are other ares dancers who can and are willing to perform, but to keep things simple, this mini performance is limited to these people. sorry if there were any misunderstanding caused.

Tapestry:
Pls head down to SALT after school immediately for tapestry prac. we don't have much time left and there are still some of us who are not familar with the steps. so let's treasure the limited time we have and practise hard with your partner/dancers!! the prac will be from 4 -7. if there's anyone who can't make it or will be late, pls inform nic cheung asap.

on sat, we will meet at orchard mrt at 330 pm. likewise, if you are going to be late, pls inform nic cheung. we will be performing outside taka and there will be two performances, one at 430 and the other at 6pm. you can get your friends to come down for support =) i know all of us have been practising hard for this and some of us have been really tired and some are falling sick. so pls pls pls take care of your health and drink lots of water! i know you guys are really passionate about dance but pls take a break if your really need to.

let's give it our all for the event! we have all worked so hard for it fro the past month! and after that we will have some good break/rest. =) jiayou pp! 2 days to go! WE CAN DO IT! COS WE ARE IMBA!! GOGO MAD!

ms chen has pointed out several things she would like us to take note of and observe during pracs, so here we go. :)))

1. INFORMING COORDINATORS if you are unable to attend pracs.
don't wait for the coordinators to chase you people ah. take the initiative to explain to them beforehand if you are unable to turn up for certain pracs without them having to chase you. :) attendance is VERY IMPORTANT if you're serious about having MAD as a CCA. this is because ms chen says she will only accept dancers who have at least 80% attendance as official members of MAD. (only then will you get your CCA records)

coordinators will be in charge of taking attendance during pracs, so YES, attendance WILL be take. :)

2. ATTIRE.
okay this is a BIGBIG issue for us. firstly, we can only wear HWACHONG shirts and not outside shirts for our pracs. secondly, for guys, you have to bring shorts (either school or your own) cuz you can't dance in your college pants. no dancing in college uniform at all, for girls too. it's the rules... >,<

oh yeah. ms chen stresses that guys are NOT ALLOWED to go topless during pracs. XD regardless of how nicely toned your 6 pecs/8 pecs are. :)

3. PRACTICE VENUES.
we can't expect ms chen to help us book venues too last minute, so if we want to have informal unofficial pracs on our own, we have to plan WAY beforehand. ms chen wants at least ONE WEEK in advance. so we've to tell her one week before the practice date to book the venues for us.

practice days will soon be fixed. :) so no worries about booking venues in advance.

4. SWEARING.
ms chen doesn't want any swearing during pracs. period.

5. CURRICULM TIME.
the 'golden rule' is that curriculm time must be protected. rehearsals/performances that require us to skip lessons should not be considered, unless the person in charge writes a formal letter to our principal to ask for permission to let us off. so please don't use MAD performances to try and get out of lessons, though it may seem tempting at times. :)

6. last of all. ACADEMIC RESULTS.
ms chen has a record of all our block test scores and will be analysing it with our teachers in charge. *oh the horrors!!!* the bad news is that, after reviewing our performance, some dancers will be suspended from practices in the weeks to come. the good news is, if we show improvement and do well enough in the promos, we will be allowed to come back. :)

just to let you guys know, there should be no practices 2 weeks before promos. cuz we really need to be mugging during that time. > <

ok that's about it! it was a huge mouthful so i hope it's not too much for you guys to digest! >< 2 posts in one night. sheesh.

btw, we have a 3rd teacher in charge, besides ms chen and ms chin. her name is ms koh, and she teaches chem. :) be nice to her!! ^_^

to all dancers involved in tapestry.

please note that tmr is hip hop day! :D there will be NO tapestry prac before the event tmr, but if you want to practise after the event, we'll probably be doing so in the PE studio.

the event is NOT COMPULSORY, though those dancers that are free are highly encouraged to participate. no official excuse from CCAs will be granted, i.e. modern-ers with modern prac tmr. i suppose if you guys are really keen on dancing for the event, you can be late for prac, but i heard that mr. dan is coming tmr. so you might want to reconsider going late. :P

so, please meet at inner plaza at 4PM or earlier, if you can! :D
attire: anything EXCEPT for college u. don't dance in college u. :P i'll be posting some code of conduct ms chen wants us to adhere to after i post this so you guys can read up more on that. :)

eh seriously, people, must JIAYOU okay. it's in 2-3 days time! and it'll be our last performance (for hiphoppers, at least) till promos! so let's just give it all we've got! i know you guys are stressed, tired, and just want to sleepsleepsleep but i know we can do this. i know we're gonna impress the crowd this saturday IF we all work hard for this and really commit ourselves for this last 2-3 days. :) whoohoo :D

BTW non-tapestry people are welcome to come have fun and dance the fac dances as well. :D

there's ares night coming up on the 3rd aug on fri. evelyn and rachel are coming up with a dance and it is opened to all ares dancers. pls inform evelyn or myself if you think you can participate in this. bear in mind that high level of commitment is needed as the event is only next week.

i know many of you are involved in tapestry and i really don't want you guys to burn yourselves out. so pls consider this very carefully. i know some of us are really tired cos of all the practices and i really don't wish to see any of you fall ill, or fall behind your work. pls take care of your health k?

OH MY. GREAT JOB FOR VOLUNTEERS' FAIR, PEOPLE.

i can't say enough to express how proud i am of all of you. we managed to rush out teaching and finalising + perfecting the routine within 1 and a half weeks! 1 and a half weeks ago, if you asked me to do something like this, i'd probably laugh it off and call you MAD.

anyway, seriously, great job everyone! girls you all were so hot and sexay and guys you were reasonably shuai la. just kidding, you were all really hot too. X)) and thanks seniors for all your support and advice. X) we wouldn't have been able to do it without your help either! :D

yups. btw, here's the divisions list for J1s in MAD 2007.

i know it should have been out a while ago, sorry it's a bit late. hee. >,<
here's how to read the list:
1. those people whose names are in coloured boxes are in 2 divisions. the others are only in 1.
2. the heading their names are under indicates their main divisions. e.g. Nicole Cheung's main division is Hip Hop.
3. your second divisions (if any) are indicated by the colour of the boxes or simply by the division indicated in the brackets beside your names. :) e.g. Ezra's main division is Hip Hop but his second division is Modern.
(any questions on how to understand it, feel free to ask. :P)

oh yes and one more important thing. :)

do note that if you'd like to use MAD's name to sign up for performances (including those in school AND out of school), please discuss it with the exco first. there are quite a number of events and performances we know of that are gonna be happening in the next few months or so, so we need to see if this extra performance will clash with anything. :) but of course, we encourage you to keep your eyes open to such things, as it's always good to expose ourselves to such external experiences. ^_^ it's one good way to improve our skills! :P

if you're not going to use MAD's name to perform, please do us a favour and inform us of the performance anyway. :) it'll be good for MAD to know what you guys (as MADders) are planning to take part in, even if you're not using our name. :P thanks lots!!

Hello juniors! For those who have been practicing for Volunteers' Fair, I've been watching you since last week! (Gosh I sound like a stalker)

And I must say, you guys (and girls) have improved a lot!!! Considering the different styles you all had to master, such as bboys doing hiphop and girls doing popping... It's quite heartening to see so many people contributing to the choreography and the numbers for the dance.

Uh... I had a lot of other things to say but I forgot them =)

Okay, this is regarding volunteer's fair. It is a little late now to talk about it but we just thought that some of you may want to know why is it that only hiphop and break are participating in it.

Okay firstly, the modern people are involved in the PSC civil service prize ceremony as we all know, that's why they are quite occupied in this period. Another important reason is that we think that modern has somehow gained quite abit of recognisation from SYF, but hiphop and break haven't been given a lot of chance to perform so far, so we thought that it will be a good exposure (within school) for them to perform for volunteer's fair (: BUT no matter what, must still rmb that we are ONE MAD!

Also, for those who are under both break and hiphop, you all can only perform in either one of the items coz we don't want to get you people too taxed, there's still sch work and rmb, PROMOS ARE COMING!! O.O in 3 months time. We understand that the hearts are very willing but the bodies must be able to cope also lah (=

Okayy that's about volunteers' fair. ANW we've seen the dance and it is omgosh-ly imba!! It's like you can see people *gasps* and *omg sooo damn nice!!!* at the side watching. so Yeah good job(: Your efforts of staying back until 7 plus everyday to practise is not wasted! Jiayou for the performance people!! *car horns*

Yeah, to end off with a HAPPY note, the syf performance today was VERY VERY GOOD! At least the 'feel' was back, after like soooo long! Really a great great great thankz to the seniors for helping us for the one last time, we will learn to be more independent after this (: Hope you all have enjoyed yourselves dancing again(together with the bunch of lovely juniors like us, ehem), after 1243973 hours of mugging and blocks. Do remember to come back and visit us once in a while k! :D :D

heyy guys! yvonne/bong here. yay my first ever post :0)

this is a shoutout to ALL hiphoppers for the volunteer's fair in school. it's on the 12th and 13th july, thursdae and fridae. we'll be putting up an item at the inner plaza (outside fishtank) after school.

item is compulsory for all pure hiphoppers. bboys and moderners are welcome to join too if you are interested and sure that you can commit to bboy item or syf showcase on top of this item :0)

warning: high level of commitment is needed because new choreo has to be taught and perfected within less than 2 weeks, so please do think it over before signing up. people whom we find unable to commit will have to drop the item :P

anyone interested, feel free to contact sijin or me asap. there will be practice on tuesdae after school, timing to be confirmed.

just for info (esp to those who are in tapestry as well), this item will most likely be used for tapestry too cos time is squeezy and we might not be able to decently choreo and teach a new item by tapestry, which is about 2 weeks after :0)

Okay, updates :)

We will be performing on:
28th of July 2007
4.30pm and at 6pm (timings are as yet unconfirmed) :)
At Takashimaya (Ngee Ann City)

Okay. basically, the organisers placed all the dancers/other groups which are non-bands at Taka, but the other locations are heeren, wheelock and cini. For us, we're only performing on 28th, which is a saturday as a good percentage of people have church on sun. The entire thing runs from 1200 to 2200, but our slots are pretty early.

Each slot is 30 mins (!!!). Currently, we only have choreoed enough stuff for say about 15 to 20, so we'll have to discuss with Si Jin and Bong on what items they think we can use. We can probably repeat for the 2nd slot so that will make our lives much easier.

For logistics, we have to all be there half an hour early, so yep :) please check your schedule beforehand and tell me if you have any problems so I can contact the organizers if we have any issues.
