I am back.

Aha! Finally I do not post consecutively.

Updates for hiphop. Actually more like updates for Danceworks.

Went for the briefing today! Saw seniors there, drew lots for the order and day of the competition. We are going to be competing on the same day as our seniors, and we are going 3rd on that day, right after NUS *eep!* Our seniors are going 11th I think.
The competition date is on the 11th March (is it someone's bday?) ONE WEEK BEFORE BLOCKS. (byebyeeeeeee blocks!)

After the briefing we came out a bit stunned, cause got a lot of things we had to discuss. Over ice desserts in the temporary Chinatown hawker centre.

1) Probable change of the Tipsy song. Because the competition guidelines state that we cannot use any songs promoting alcoholism and drugs, and the song cannot contain expletives. Tipsy kinda fits the whole entire description. It gives us a good reason for changing the song, cause nobody really likes it.

2) The theme of the anti-drug dance is "Celebrate a drug free lifestyle". The original idea was to have the song Petrified somewhere in between the routine. Which totally doesn't fit cause we are supposed to kowtow to the "drop that" in the song lyrics and be "petrified" in the middle of the dance routine, when we are supposed to be "celebrating a drug free lifestyle". Furthermore, if we are using this routine for Dance Night, it will be quite ridiculous to bring the anti drug theme in the middle of nowhere. If the anti drug rah rah bit were to be cut for Dance Night, then it should be either at the start of the routine or at the end, or both.

3) There is such a thing as a costume competition. I don't understand how the heck are we supposed to come up with a drug free costume.

4) There is also another thing called the Best Supported Team competition. Although we don't really want you guys to see us suffer, COMEEEEE support us.

5) The commercial, contrary to our beliefs, is not 5 mins but 45 secs. Major cutting needs to be done.

Hence we had some sort of a grand plan. We propose that at the start, we keep 2 eights of the "instrumental" (if you can call it that) Tipsy, then go on with being Petrified. Then when the music goes "drop that", instead of kowtowing as intended we will drop all the already pasted cardboard pills and needles off our costume. So that covers the anti drug theme and the costume problem. HAHAH.

Problems that need to be sorted out - Proposing this proposal, figuring out how to mix funk music into hiphop so that it doesn't sound disjointed (the pain of having different genres in one routine), finding another song to replace the banned Tipsy, coming up with another commercial, practice dates, etc.

And of course, surviving blocks afterwards.
