Elections Day*
Date: 16/06/11, Thursday
Venue: to be confirmed
Time: 0800AM - 1200PM (ExCo Applicants will definitely stay beyond this duration; everyone else may leave by 12PM. It is likely that we may end earlier)
Time: 1200PM - ????PM (ExCo Applicants Only - Interviews)
All ExCo Applicants are reminded to keep the entire day free.
Last year it ended at... 9pm++ I think.

Process of selection for MAD ExCo '11 - 12

1. Elections
2. Interviews
Both of which, will be conducted on the same day.

What will happen on Elections Day
- Old ExCo Address - quick runthrough of roles
- Every ExCo Applicant should make a speech addressed to everyone - reason for this is simple: ExCo is not meant to be merely involved with your own division, even if it means you're running for division head.
- Speech should be <1min (you may speak longer than this if you wish, but emphasis is still on being succinct)

Interviews

1. All running for exco will have to bring an object that you think best represents yourself and explain why.
2. Show us your hidden talent ( Anything but dance! Singing, juggling, acting cute?) Impress us!

3. We will interview you.

What happens if you can't make it for Elections Day - ExCo Applicants
A. Elections
- Film a video of your own speech
- Contact a member of the current ExCo, cc/SMS Kah How - pass us a copy of your video
- We will screen the video of your speech on elections day
- Voting will be conducted as though as you are there
B. Interviews
- We will make separate arrangements and interview you another day.

What happens if you can't make it for Elections Day - Non-ExCo Applicants
I. Elections
- We will film all the speeches
- We will arrange a date with you so you may vote for the next ExCo

Q&A
1. Will we get to vote for ExCo positions even if we aren't in the division (say, I'm a Bboy. Do I vote for who should be Modern Head?)
- Yes. Though of course, voting is NOT an absolute factor in deciding whether you eventually become part of the ExCo; i.e. even if you somehow secure 90% of the votes, it does not necessary guarantee you a place in ExCo.
2. Oh no we have An An prac! how?
We will schedule you such that you either have your interviews before prac, or after prac. so keep the day free anyways. Those not running for ExCo - you will definitely be on time for An An prac(:
3. Can I still withdraw my ExCo Application?
Yes. If you're only interested in dance for yourself (which is perfectly fine), please withdraw. If you eventually make it to ExCo despite your inclinations, life would be difficult for yourself and everyone because you have to commit time to things beyond individual pursuits. It is a committee that represents the whole of MAD, it is no longer just about yourself. Hence, some personal sacrifices are inevitable. If you can't do that (or see yourself doing that), withdraw.
4. I wanna change my ExCo application - can I still do that?
I won't judge. But it does make you appear a little fickle, don't you think?
Oh well. yes.
5. What will happen for interviews?
& you think I'll give you the answer to that now? :D

6. Can seniors sit in? :D

HALO I have no business around anymore but i was just talking to anan just now and she commented on something that i thought i should let you guys know.
It's important for every batch onwards actually. :D

You guys know how the fusion item came about? Actually I'm not too sure either but i'm under the impression that it was from my senior batch who started this item called 'potluck' which was actually a MAD fusion item. Subsequently my batch did 2(opening and closing), i don't remember last yr's did how many but aiya not important. Just a very long winded opening. XD

OK, AnAn commented that she didn't like how the music was so choppy (30seconds and a 30 seconds and a 30 seconds). It is a fusion item, but the item has to be tight. We want to showcase as much genres as possible, but keep in mind that it itself is an item. It has to flow yea. I can't say exactly how, but maybe just suggesting something here, perhaps it does not have to be a modern-bboy,bboy-hiphop,hiphop-modern kind of thing or modern-hiphop-bboy. hope yall get what i mean, try working around it, keep the item tighter as ONE. choreographers work closely together too yea. Yeap that's all. Work hard!

And a thorough good job to you guys :D I was here for 2 consecutive saturday runs and sunday night's show. lol forgot, i'm regina btw(j4 now) was the hiphop asshead.

& mad '10 - '11 will unofficially step down.

it has been a pleasure to be in MAD, but i guess our time is almost up

it felt short, nevertheless, it is certainly something that i liked a lot

attempting to reduce/compress the times that mad '10 - '11 in a single post just can't quite make the cut

anyway it is pretty much high time to consider what you can/wanna do for yourself, for MAD

the window for ExCo Applications is open and will close on 5th June, Sunday 1159PM. (about a week after Dance Night)

Elections will (tentatively) be held on 16th June, Thursday. Do expect it to be a whole day event from 0800 to 1900+

We will (tentatively) set release of results on 20th June, Monday.

Hey M.A.D.ders!

Ezra here. Some of u noe me, some of u dun hahas but glad to see my name's still on the blog links xD

I had the privilege of meeting some of u these past few days over DN tech run and a freak chance performance at Apollo outing. Just wanna say thanks for much fun and for making this dinosaur still feel so welcome! hahas as I was telling Kah How, I dun think I'll ever get tired of meeting MADders, past, present or future. It always feels like coming home =) and it was very heartwarming to see such unity despite there being no cross-divs now. Don't ever let that die!

Anyway, jiayous for dance night prep and rehearsals!! I know you guys are super stressed now trying to juggle DN and schoolwork (well, those who didn't give up on schoolwork completely like I did anyway) so I found some old videos for u to laugh at and destress! =D

Fuyo Interschool 2011 (8th May 2011)

Hi all you people!

Fuyo Interschool is an annual 3v3 interschool bboying competition that we (MAD Bboy J2s) are taking part in. :D Yeah I know the picture is a little dated, but it's not my fault that they don't update their picture lol. AH well, but you get the point.

Anyway, the actual date of the competition this year is 8th May which is on a Sunday. So if you're not too tired or busy and want to come down to support us, we would really appreciate it. Unfortunately it's $15 for admission but hopefully that won't deter you from coming down :/
J1 bboys and bgirls, the part about "too tired or busy" and "unfortunately it's $15" don't apply to you; you are to come down to support your seniors and gain exposure to the scene muahahaha.

Hey all, excited about bboy auditions on tuesday? :)

Venue: Salt Studio
Time: 5pm ( seek your understanding that it might end a little late, depending on people who turn up)
Attire: At least knee length pants, with any shirt you want

Don't be too scared, if you've been practicing those moves, be confident and show us what you have!

Audition format: All of you will have to come out once. After which, there will be a set number of rounds for anyone to come out and dance. If no one comes out within 1 count of 8, J2 bboys will take the round, and the opportunity is lost! So do step up bravely and show your stuff.

For those who passed auditions rnd 1:
You are to report at RUA at 4:00pm sharp in any shirt + long pants.
You'll haf an advantage as us snrs will submit the your names to our hiphop instructor for recommendation.

For those who couldnt make it for 1st audition but still wish to try out for rnd 2:
You are also required to report at RUA at 4:00pm sharp in any shirt + long pants.
However, your audition will start at a later time as priority will be given to those who passed rnd 1. Thus, you'll be allocated into a group that has a later timeslot.

For those who didnt pass rnd 1:
Sorry, u'll not be allowed to try out for rnd 2.

Whatever the outcome is, always remember this. Dance is a platform to express yourselves. It is not a tool to showcase ur talents for personal glory, boost ur portfolio, nor status. With the right attitude and passion, no amount of talent will be able to replace them. :D Jiayou and goodluck!

Haha first post of the year... Hope you had a good time celebrating xmas and new year's day :p

Anw, for this Wed's rehearsal, our time slot for markings/blockings/etc is from 12.35pm to 1.35pm, so each div will have around 20 min to do so. Our performance rehearsal slot is from 3pm to 4pm. For each time slot, we'll need to report 20 min earlier to standby.

Also, do remember to prepare $10 for MAD shirt and pass to your div heads as well :)

We have something for you - Hwa Chong Music and Dance Society (MAD) is conducting open classes for both Hiphop and Bboy during the holidays.

13th Dec (Hiphop): 1.00pm to 4.00pm
14th Dec (Bboy): 5.00pm to 8.00pm
17th Dec (Hiphop): 1.00pm to 3.00pm
21st Dec (Bboy): 5.00pm to 8.00pm

Venue: SALT Studio

Attire: covered shoes, any t-shirt, preferebly knee-length pants for bboy and long pants for hiphop

Do note that these are introductory sessions so no prior experience is necessary. Also, attending these sessions does not necessarily mean that you have to (or will) join MAD in college.

1. Overnight Stay
Unfortunately, the school has rejected our proposal for a stay-in camp. Thus, campers will be dismissed at the end of each day to return home (latest by 9pm) and come back to school the next day. Fret not... the camp will still be a very enjoyable one :D

2. Camp Fee
Please give your div heads $15 if you have not done so latest by first day of camp.

3. Consent Forms
Kindly submit your consent forms latest by the first day of camp as well :) For those who do not have them yet, they will be distributed to you very soon.

4. Preparation
As there will be a “campfire” night on the last day when we’ll put up showcases, you might want to start preparing music that you might want to use.

5. Leave of Absence
Do remember to seek for Ms Chen’s approval (this should be accompanied by a parent’s/official letter) if you are unable to attend the camp or need to leave for certain periods of time. Please inform the Camp ICs (Xin Yun and Amanda Chia) as well.

Just some general (but very important!) updates here:

1. Dance Camp

Dance Camp 2010 is coming! :DDDD

But of course, it’s not just all fun and games; we hope that after Dance Camp,

A greater sense of unity and camaraderie will be fostered;
Dancers will gain a deeper understanding of the various genres of dance and
Discipline in all aspects, not just during dance practices but in etiquette, and time management, will be instilled

Here are the details:

Confirmed dates: 2-4 December (stayover still unconfirmed, will update again)

Camp fee: We’ll try as much as possible to keep this low, but in the event of no funding from the school, everyone is to pay $28.00 each (will be updated again as cost may change according to attendance and funding)

Camp committees: Here are the names of the I/Cs and AI/Cs for the committees, list of committee members will be released again soon (Do remember to sign up with your div heads if you haven’t!)

2. Dance Night 2011

Currently, we’re facing two major problems with Dance Night 2011: Administrative and funding issues. The school has decided against Dance Night 2011, reason being its SYF year for Modern, but this reason is arguable and we’ll take it that Dance Night 2011 would still go on as of now.

This year, MAD ExCo is proposing to bring Dance Night out of school with reasons as follows:

· Allows dancers to gain exposure and a once-in-a-lifetime experience

· Encourages dancers to improve their standards as standards have to be much higher if we were to bring Dance Night out of school

· Better lighting, sound system, dance floor and seating capacity

· Increase ticket price, and thus ticket sales

Whether or not it will be in or out of school, we’ll update you guys again later.

As for funding, the school has cut funding for Dance Night which means that we’ll get $0 from the school. Assuming that all tickets will be sold, the projected profit for Dance Night in school would be approximately $4000.00, while the projected profit for Dance Night outside would be approximately $20,000.00. **Do note that all these are just projected estimations, ie. The real profits may differ quite a bit due to changes in spending.

2. AMPlify!

Hiphop division is performing at AMPlify, Nanyang Auditorium on the 17th July. AMPlify is a fund raising event organised by group AMPowered. AMPowered is a Youth For Causes project which aims to raise awareness and funds for the Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF). We empower our beneficiaries from Singapore Heart Foundation with the power to voice out and empower the public with the power to give.

3. this is a tricky one.

Hello All MADders!

Transcendance is over and i bet many of you had dancenight hangovers just like i did!
Yeah, its quite unbelievable that we've come this far, and then it all jus ends like this.
SIGH...

But! " Don't be sad it's over, be glad that it happened" !

Everyone gave it their all, especially the last show. The audience felt it, and what is most important is that we rocked the stage while enjoying ourselves, dancing from our heart.
Many of us are missing the time we had together with our batchmates, training and drilling for dancenight, all the sweat and tears shed are now shelved only as memories.
Life's like that, theres a reason why the word "cherish" exist, so we'll all just have to take it as it come.
However! On a brighter note we left with Zero Regrets! =)

For J2s
This is our last show, but the experience is forever! YEAHHH!
The moment on stage compared to when we were in J1, was a whole new feeling.
I would like all of you to remember that particular moment when you were on stage.
What you saw, What you heard.
Was it an audi full of audience that was memorable to you? Or was it someone shouting your name? etc.
Most imptly, I want you all to remember that night we rocked the stage, we danced not for the audience, we danced for ourselves!
Once a MADder, always a MADder!
Further down the road, always remember that we were all from MAD and still are in MAD and Dancenight 2010- Transcendance - We were all Part of it. =)

J1s!
Good job for dancenight, it may not seem as significant to you right now, but im sure you guys will feel it nxt year! You still have 1 more year to go, so do Make it Count! =) Enjoy urself in MAD because this is where all our passion burns, and it will definitely be something you wont wanna leave behind after u graduate.

ONCE AGAIN, THE BIG GROOVE IS HERE!

well not yet but in 35 days.

anyway, here's a short intro for those of you who don't know what it is!

THE BIG GROOVE 2010

Asia's most awaited hip-hop dance convention, The Big Groove (TBG) is back and promises to be bigger and more spectacular. Etch the date 11 July in your diaries!

TBG 2010 brings some of the world's most awarded and highly entertaining dance groups together on a stage. Themed “The Year of the Champions”, this year features crews who have featured in major dance championships.

Audiences can look forward to seeing the dazzling performances of Quest Crew, the winners of America's Best Dance Crew (Season 3), Wrecking Crew Orchestra (WCO) <---OMG! and Hilty and Bosch, winners of Japan Dance Delight and more in a grand showcase at Singapore Expo.

Local homegrown talents Joyce and the Boys, who won the inaugural Singapore Dance Delight and came in 3rd at the World Hip Hop Championships at Las Vegas, will also take the stage.

If you dream of performing like these dancers, learn techniques and pick up new skills at the specialty dance workshops held between 8 – 11 July. Overseas guest instructors such as Lee, who won a Special Award at Japan Dance Delight, and Dominique from WCO, will conduct the workshops.

TBG 2010 is one of the marquee events of the National Youth Council’s SHINE Youth Festival.

Elections procedure

Round 1: Speeches + Voting

All J1s are to report to the main room at 8.30am.
A speech will be required from all running for exco.
All J1s are to be present to listen to these speeches.

Voting will commence after the last speech has been made.
- Those not involved in elections are dismissed after voting.

Round 2: Wacky Intro + Choreography showcase

WACKY INTRO
1. All running for exco will have to bring an object that you think best
represents yourself and explain why. Humour is taken into account =)
2. Show us your hidden talent ( Anything but dance! Eg. Singing, juggling, Acting Cute? ) Impress us!

CHOREOGRAPHY SHOWCASE
A choreography showcase is required for all those running for division heads.
A 1min choreography will be required for people running for hiphop and modern division head/ asst division head. A 30 second choreography will be required for bboy division head/ asst division head.

-Those waiting for their turn in the holding room are not to watch the ongoing showcase.

Round 3: Interview

The interview will commence 1 hour after the choreography showcase.
Do Expect the Unexpected for this segment!

Do think about your reasons for joining exco before running.
WARNING: Don't join exco for superficial reasons such as portfolio, having the 'title' of division head and so on, because then you wldnt have ur heart and soul in it.
You might just end up regretting and of cos drag the entire EXCO and MAD down!

Hello MAD!

Second audi run was indeed much better than the first run!
Upon reading this, u shld clap for urselves! =)
Stage probs are stupid mistakes which we shldnt even be committing so do take note of them.

We still have 1 more week to go, this is the last stretch, so make it worthwhile!

Choreo wise is still fine, but what everyone seems to be lacking is the energy and expression.

Ask yourself this:
Why did u audition for MAD? Why Dance? Find that reason, and stay true to urself.

Dancenight is an opportunity for us all to be on the stage, performing and showing others the common passion we share and for some what best represents us. The moment you are on stage, you know that this is your moment. For j2s, your last! You gota remember that you are doing something you like, and then Dance from your heart. Feel the Dance, let the audience feel it too. Dance moves are like a form of language, the next thing you do after learning them, is to Express yourselves. When you are dancing on stage, Enjoy urselves!

From ytd's second run, i personally felt it when i saw some of you dance, so good job and keep it up!

today's audi run ended not bad =D some general stuff to tell everyone while dancenight is just 7days away!

DO NOT's
1. Do not push the curtains too much while running out. I know bboy has to take note of this cause the person in charge there say we are pushing the curtains alot. so on that day remember this.

2. Do not walk with loud footsteps at backstage like a GORILLA.

3. Do not look down when during your choreo. learn how to look up and be confident of yourself.

DO's
1. Do enjoy the choreo your doing! if you want to have high energy and good expression, it is important to have fun in your choreo and give it your all! only then can you give the audience the best =D

2. Do train hard and remember all the advice given to you by your instructors and div heads. most of us left with only 3 trainings for your item so try your best to go for training.

3. Do listen to your music repeatedly to get a feel of the music!

4. Do mug through your dance steps when your at home. e.g. can do homework then train abit thn continue. can dance and bathe at the same time.. etc etc.

ohyea anyone who has anymore advice can add to the list =D

hey j1s! bboy auds are coming on this friday! the format would be something like this!

First Round:

We will be testing you all on the basics that our instructor, bboy boy taught you all. As long as you all are able to execute the move, you all would be able to move on to the second round of the auditions. so train hard on the basics!

Second Round:

All of you would be forming a cypher. A cypher is when everybody forms a circle with a person dancing in the middle of it. Each person need to enter the cypher once to do their own sets. After everyone has entered the cypher, it would be free-for-all. Meaning that anyone who wants to enter the cypher can enter the cypher. You can enter with a friend, or enter alone, up to you. After that, you all are done and can go home =D Results will be released at a later date.

Q: I didnt sign up for auditions. But can I still come for bboy auditions?

A: Yes! you can just come on the day itself and auditions. no need to sign up beforehand.

Q: How many people are you all accepting into bboys this year?

A: As long as we think you can make it, you can get into bboy. so just come down and audition!

Q: Can I have another CCA apart from MAD?

A: Preferably not. MAD is very taxing already. so unless you think you can cope and come down for bboy trainings, it is STRONGLY advised not to.

Q: I don't have any previous dance experience. Do I stand a chance?

A: ITS OK! many of us came to auditions last year without any previous experience in dance. As long as you work hard and train well whatever bboy boy has taught you all, its fine to come here and give it a shot.

Q: Wa but I shy leh? Somemore must do in front of so many people...

A: ITS OK! no one will be laughing at you as everyone would be as nervous as you! so just come down and remember what you want to do and JUST DO IT! =D

Q: but i zhapor thn bboy alot of guys. how?

A: this is really not a problem at all! bgirls have their own style compared to guys. so dont feel inferior or lousy when you compare yourself to them! you are good in things that many of them are not good in. =D

Q: can i be in more than one div!

A: for this year, i dont think its possible. As it is very difficult to master two vastly different dances and cope with studies at the same time. So we would only allow you to join one div this year. You all would be given the chance to choose which div you are more interested in joining.

Harlo. congratulations to those who got through round 1 auditions(: you should have received an sms by now telling you that you did. the results are uploaded onto smb as well.

there will be a second and final round next wednesday, the 24th of february. details are as follows:

Time to report: 2.30pm
Venue to report to: ~~A210~~ changed to poolside restaurant! :D
Judge: Anan from oschool (our instructor :D)
Audition format: Roughly the same as round 1 auditions. Anan will be teaching you guys a short choregraphy in a time limit, after which you will perform it together with freestyling.

as for signing up of ccas on isp, for those who got through hip hop round one auditions, please put MAD down as your first choice cca on isp by this sunday.

after seeking approval from school, here is the new colour scheme for the mad tee.
However i understand that soem of you still prefer the black. if you prefer the black and consent that you will not wear it around school (and can only use it IN studios if you were to use it in studios), tell me by any means by possible. i will make the call by the end of the week as to which one we will be printing.

HEY MADDERS!

Just a short update with regards to the dancenight '09 dvds. Sorry people, but I don't think they can all be done by this saturday (aka farewell party).

The planned output is at 100 copies. (MAD 08/09 has 98 people.) And we need to give copies to instructors and other random people (plus a copy for chinese dance too). That means output might not be able to meet quantity demanded. 'll pass on the secrets of making dancenight dvds to ms. mad secretary 08/09, so please bug her when the first 100 copies run out.

Prototype should be out by saturday though. It's really pretty cool. :D

for our seniors! This is the time where we reward and thank our seniors who have guided us through these 4mths and of cos many more to come. So all of you better come ok, dont wang4 en1 fu4 yi4 haha!

Hello all!

We're making a second order for the dancenight tees (yupp, the same black ones) at $12 each. If you wish to get one (or another one), please contact jonneo by thursday, 16 july.

(Actually if there's a demand for variations, it may be possible to print shirts with other designs. I.e. White shirt with black graffiti outline, white shirt with coloured graffiti, etc)

That aside, everyone should/will be getting a copy of the dance night 09 dvd during farewell party! Money issues will be settled again, but yeah. However, if you want a copy of dance night 09 ost, you have to order it with jonneo (again) asap. All should be either at no cost or extremely low cost. (Means we will touch the mad fund, haha)

Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan has said schools will re-open and the Asian Youth Games and National Day celebrations will carry on.

But recently-returned students who have travelled to affected countries will stay at home for one week before joining their classmates when schools re-open on Monday. (anyone? lol)

The Ministry of Education (MOE) will provide more details soon, added Mr Khaw.

A211 will be the main room.
A210 will be the holding room during interviews.

Kindly bring along your thermometer for temperature taking exercise.

All J1s are compulsory to come for voting.

Positions and job scopes
(just a rough gauge)

President/Vice president:
Public relations.
Vision and goal setter.
Main means of communication with school admin.
Overall discipline and welfare.
Role of quartermasters

Treasurer:
Handling of monetary issues.
(Dance Nite budget and reimbursement, MAD funds)
Link to the school admin regarding monetary issues.
(Instructor fees, account for how the funds are being used.)

Secretary:
Takes minutes for meetings.
Handling of contacts.
(MAD, external contacts)
In charge of designing and IT stuff.
(Can delegate work to people, but you will be in charge of ensuring the end product and finding people under your wing)

Division Heads/Asst Heads:
In charge of choreography.
(Can delegate choreography to people, but you will be in charge of ensuring the end product and finding people under your wing)
Leads warm-ups.
Leads and organises self-practice.
Makes decisions for the division.
(Decides what performances to take up, changing of instructor)
Main means of communication with instructor.
Taking attendance.
Ensuring discipline and welfare for divisions.

Ask your respective current exco members for more details regarding the posts if you need more information.

Procedure
Round 1:
Voting.

Speech is required for all positions.
Choreography is required for modern, hip hop and bboy heads/asst. heads
Choreography will not be taken into account for modern asst. head. (but still please put effort into the choreography)
About 1 minute of choreography is required.

Everyone will listen to the speeches,
After which they will break for lunch,
While those who have to show their choreography do their stuff one by one.
Others are not to watch the choreography.
Others can wait in the holding room (A210) for their turn.

Round 2:
Interview.

We will be announcing results on 18th June.

Hello,

You guys seldom hear me speak or address the entire MAD usually so just want to say a few things here.

There were many times that things didn't go in the way we'd like it to be. Dancers having to cope with pressures from all dimensions, while practising for their items, the committee having to plan and organize well to ensure things will proceed smoothly, dancers all feeling exhausted... But i think it's all worthwhile.

Don't be sad that it's over. Be glad that it has happened. I think Ck said that before. I want to thank every single one of you who have helped in making this whole production possible and subsequently, a great success. And i would like to thank everyone for all the fond memories that we've created together.

It shall not be an end, but a beginning to a new chapter. To the juniors, it's gonna be your show next year (:

The end of BACK AGAIN 09.
Dance Nite 2009.
By Hwa Chong Music and Dance Society.
And by Hwa Chong Chinese Dance.

It wasn't easy.
We had a tight schedule to follow.
We had to stay back late in school for practices.
We had little runs and rehearsals in the auditorium.
But.
We still did it.

WE DID MANAGE TO PULL IT OFF!
GREAT JOB!

I'm sure you guys did your best for all shows,
There may be screw ups here and there,
But more importantly,
Don't let them affect you as eventually,
It is how all of you feel towards this production that matters.

Both MAD and CD was great.
Props to all (not only the dancers) who have worked hard for this production.
Really appreciate the effort.
You guys know who you are.

Now that it has concluded.
How are you feeling?

I hope that all of you left the auditorium with no regrets.
I hope that all of you did what you wanted to show on that very stage.

Had a memorable dancenite experience.

J1s may not have as strong sentiments as the J2s towards dancenite this year,
But its natural.
Next year you guys should be feeling it like all J2s would towards dancenite.

J2s,
You guys are probably getting emotional over the end of this production.
But dont let it get to you people for too long okay.
This might be our last official show together,
But there are things that still stay with us even when dancenite is over.

The people.
The experiences.
The memories.
The photos.
The songs and soundtracks.
The video.
The costumes.

And of course,
The stage.

I truly hope that BACK AGAIN 09 did have an impact on your life.

As to what extent and how it did.
You decide.

HELLO ALL MADDERS!

Aside from all the trainings, blockings and lighting sessions, here's something more light-hearted for you guys to do. Please submit all your photos/videos/voiceclips for dancenight '09 montage to either Hui Hua or Jonathan Neo by this friday, 13 May.

We're accepting any photos that you deem relevant to the montage. Please send in both J1s and J2s photos. They need not be stuff from dancenight preparation but it has to be something to do with MAD at the very least.

Late photos/videos/voiceclips may not be entertained unless they are of extreme relevance. That will depend on the mood of the people making the montage as well. Ahem.

SO, please submit the photos and stuff if you want your friends or yourselves to be featured!

as the ending time is very late, please do inform your parents of the time as well, so as to not let them worry for you.
please also come after taking your lunch.
j2 bio students, take your lunch from 1300-1315. do not eat until you are too full, to prevent indigestion and vomitting while dancing.

Time: 1245-1830 hrs (pls report outside Salt Studio to your respective divions heads by 1230)
Venue: Salt Centre Dance Studio
Attire: check with your item i/cs

Things to note:
- Please bring all your costumes for your respective items as we will be checking your costumes]
- Take your lunch before coming for the SALT RUN.
- If you are sick, kindly inform your division head and item i/cs
- If you need to leave early, please inform me directly through whatever means possible to you.
- All props except class benches are to be ready by SALT RUN. please bring your respective props.

you may wish to bring things in to do in the holding room while waiting for your item. do be alert at all times when the helpers come to call you guys for your items, and be changed by then.

Seniors Back Again!

hello juniors!!! (:

haha u all shld hav known me rite, i went back last sat for ur 1st salt rehearsal! anyway, our batch 06/07 mr president kelvin had already said the things that we seniors had for u all, here's just an add-on frm me ok! this is after some thinking process! like wad kelvin said, we still feel we're in no position to say all these but yeah, we're saying it nonetheless cuz we sincerely want the BEST for u all! (:

firstly, i LOVE how u guys are enjoying this whole affair! all the smiles n laughter, really very heart-warming and brings back good old memories! and i see tt technique-wise n choreography is really qte up to standard! keep it up ok! (:

not going to talk abt stuff u all shld alr know like ATTENDANCE (sorry, secretary's concern haha!), COMMITMENT, DISCIPLINE etc..

just some things to re-emphasize:
1) ESSENCE: know the essence of the dance! e.g. if it's "Womanizer", be SAO & hiao & sexy & bitchy!! if it's lyrical, be emo and FEEL the dance!
2) EXPRESSIONS: important important!! mayb u all havnt practised this, but yeah, start on this soon! dun smile when u're supposed to look cool, n when u're supposed to smile, give ur Darlie smileeee!! (: eye-contact with e audience also v impt!

3) ENERGY: show it off during ur hits! however, do remember to CONTROL n dun overhit!! bear in mind tt u hav many items on hand, u need the same level of (high) energy for ALL items! so conserve ur energy when u dun need them!

*note: during transitions/formation changes, ur energy level shld NOT drop! try to maintain energy level throughout the item, until u go offstage!

4) BLOCKING: work out on ur blocking/traffic yeah! make sure u dun bang into another person while changing positions/after some stunts!

just wanna say, u guys are a lucky bunch! u all have Shah & An-an!! (u all shld know tt we didnt hav a hiphop instructor back then..) not forgetting Mr Dan n Felix of cuz.. so technique-wise n dance standard shld be much much higher! SHOW IT! make ur instructors proud, make us seniors proud! (i know u all will! :D)

it's 17 days to the big show!!
to quote my dance senior,
YOU'LL ONLY FEEL PROUD IF YOU'VE WORKED HARD FOR IT.
i personally dont like regrets. so make sure u have no regrets aft e show!!! FULL OUT EVERYONE OK!!
do this for the very supportive audience, for ur dance instructors, for our MAD teachers, for ur seniors, for ur batchmates, for yourself!

this is solely for encouraging purpose! truly hope u all are encouraged! (:
we snrs will be there watching each n every one of u all n feeling proud!
JIAYOUUU EVERYONE!!! :D
